The Israeli Foreign Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, said in front of the United Nations Security Council that his country "won't accept a Palestinian government if Hamas is included," according to a press release by the Israeli envoy to UN.
Lieberman, who met 15 ambassadors to the Security Council in a New York hotel, discussed the Doha meeting in which Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, and the leader of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Khaled Mashaal, signed a cooperation agreement.
"We won't accept a Palestinian government in which Hamas participates, unless it changes its policy and acknowledges Israel's right to exist," announced Lieberman. "Hamas must also agree to the Quartet committee's conditions of the Middle East; the committee that includes the United States, the European Union, Russia and the United Nations."
Lieberman further stated that the Doha agreement "reflects the personal interests of Abbas and Mashaal, and it doesn't lead to any progress in the peace process, or in achieving the interests of Palestinians."
