Talat Ramiya, 23, died in surgery late Friday after Israeli soldiers shot him in the chest with live fire at a protest. Israel's army said he had targeted the soldiers with fireworks.
Around 2,000 mourners, many carrying Palestinian flags, marched with Ramiya's body to a cemetery in al-Ram, a few hundred meters north of the Jerusalem city limits.
"Millions of martyrs will march on Jerusalem," they chanted.
Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority Salam Fayyad condemned the killing on Saturday. "The Israeli government bears full responsibility for this crime," he said in a statement.
"The international community’s silence...contributed to further Israeli undermining of our people’s lives and committing this crime. This situation gives the international community direct responsibility for the continuation of such attacks," it said.
Clashes erupted after the funeral as heavily armed Israeli police tried to disperse the crowd, firing tear canisters and rubber-coated bullets.
Palestinian responded by throwing stones at the police from a distance.
"Rocks, fire bombs and burning tires were hurled at soldiers," an Israeli military statement said. "After exhausting all other means, rubber pellets were used."
The violence comes amid increasing tension over the al-Aqsa Mosque complex in Jerusalem, with far-right Israeli groups threatening to take control of the site - the third holiest site in Islam.
