Israeli forces clashed with Palestinians in Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Friday, with state forces firing tear gas at the crowds.

Israeli troops entered the Haram al-Sharif after Friday prayers, and fired tear and and sound grenades, causing confusion amongst the large crowds at the holy site.

The forces prevented the worshipers from leaving for over an hour.
In response Palestinian youths threw rocks and sticks at the forces and high security measures were implemented throughout Jerusalem.

An activist who tweets under the title @zeelunat said that Israeli forces invaded the site late morning on Friday.

In Hebron Palestinian protesters were attacked by Israeli forces as they tried to enter Shuhada Street, the scene of recent protests.

Shuhada was the most important street in the city before it was annexed by Israel in 1967. Currently it is used by far-right Jewish settlers and Palestinians are banned from walking on it.

Al-Akhbar contributor Omar Rahman said activists and journalists were prevented from reaching the street and were attacked soldiers who used sound grenades.
