On Friday, the 2nd of March, the Palestinian prisoner Hana Shalabi entered her 16th day of hunger strike, protesting against the Israeli administrative detention; a law imposed against Palestinian prisoners in which the prisoner is to be detained without charge or trial.
On Thursday, the prisoner Shalabi told the lawyer of the Palestinian prisoners' society Fawwaz Shalloudi during his visit that she will continue with her hunger strike until her demands are achieved. Shalloudi reported, "Shalabi was beaten, subjected to maltreatment inside the prison. The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) placed her in solitary confinement."
Shalabi was among 1,027 Palestinian prisoners who were released in Shalit's swap deal in October 2011. On 16 February 2012 she was rearrested and ordered to be detained under administrative detention without trial for another six months.
Since then, the administrative detainee began her hunger strike completing what Khader Adnan has started, to boycott the administrative detention courts.
The institutions of the West Bank condemn the Israeli occupation authority practices and procedures against Palestinians, and called on the world to take an immediate action to release Hana al-Shalabi as well as other administrative detainees in the Israeli prisons.
