Israeli Settlers Invade Neighborhoods in I'rtas Village

Hundreds of Israeli settlers invaded Sha’ab Salman and al-Nahleh neighborhoods in the village of I’rtas just south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem, to establish a base, the Palestinian News & Info Agency (WAFA) reported on Friday.

Awad Swai, an official in the Ministry of Agriculture, reported that hundreds of settlers invaded the neighborhoods through the nearby village of Wadi Rahhal and accesses in the Annexation wall built at the village. He added that they arrived under cover of the Israeli army.

Swai stated that this is not the first invasion of the village. The settlers keep coming, in attempts to take over Abu Zaid Mountain with the intention of expanding the illegal settlement of “E’frat”.

According to the settlers' website, Swai said, the building of a new settlement in the al-Nahleh neighborhood is in the air.

Palestinian graves 'vandalized' in Jaffa

JAFFA, Israel (Ma'an) -- Christian and Muslim graves in Jaffa were vandalized overnight Friday, by assailants suspected to be Jewish extremists, local media reports and a religious official said.

The Islamic cemetery al-Kazakhana and nearby Christian Orthodox cemetery in the town were broken into at night, locals told reporters. A website called Yaffa48 posted photos of what it identified as the graves.

"Death to Arabs" and other racist slogans were daubed on graves, they said, and gravestones were smashed.

The president of the Islamic Movement in Jaffa, Sheikh Ahmad Abu Ajwa, slammed the attack which he called an attempt to blackmail Palestinian residents of Jaffa.

Arab Knesset member Ibrahim Sarsour accused Israeli authorities of failing to stop extremist attacks, the official Palestinian Authority news agency WAFA reported.

"The Israeli government was not making any effort to stop these racist attacks against Palestinians, rather it provides extremists protection," he told the site.

Abu Awja called for local officials to hold an emergency meeting to discuss recent attacks on Palestinians in Israel.

Police and Jewish Israeli officials were not available for comment during the Yom Kippur fast day.

On Sunday, a mosque in Bedouin village Tuba Zangaria in northern Israel was torched by a group of assailants, and Israeli police detained an 18-year-old in connection with the attack.

Police said they had set up a special task force to deal with the "price taggers," Reuters reported, a reference to attacks on Palestinians by Israelis, usually settlers in the West Bank, in revenge for policies they oppose.

In 2005 a Jewish couple was charged for throwing a pig's head into a Tel Aviv mosque in an attempt to derail Israel's then pullout from the Gaza Strip which went ahead in August of that year.

In January this year, the Al-Aqsa Foundation said 20 graves in the historic Mamilla cemetery in West Jerusalem were damaged by Jewish extremists.

Around 20 percent, or 1.3 million people, of Israel's population are of Palestinian origin.

They are largely the descendants of Palestinians that managed to remain during the 1948 war, when an estimated 700,000 were expelled from or fled their homes during fighting that would see the establishment of the state of Israel.

Rights groups say that Israelis of Palestinian origin face discrimination in employment, education and public funding within Israel.

Army Kidnaps Three Residents in Hebron

The Israeli army kidnapped three Palestinians from the town of Halhoul north of Hebron on Tuesday, and invaded the town of ad-Dahreyeh south of Hebron, Palestine News & Information Agency (WAFA) reported.

Palestinian Security sources reported that Israeli army forces kidnapped three Palestinian residents from Halhoul, identified as: Hamouda al-Baw, Ali al-Sa’di, and Wa’el al-Arja.

The army also searched several houses belonging to Khader al-Baw, Ali Shehada, Nidal al-Baw, and Saqer al-Baw, as well as other houses in al-Dahreyeh village in the southern part of Hebron.

 In related news, a number of Israeli settlers stoned the house of the resident Mohammad Sadeq in the old city of Hebron, under cover of the Israeli army. In addition, the Army erected many military blockades in the city of Hebron and at the entrances of a number of villages, stopping the residents’ cars and checking their identities

Army Demolishes a House and Cowshed, Bulldozes Olive Orchard in Hebron

The Israeli army demolished a house and cowshed, bulldozed an olive orchard, and confiscated two caravans in the village of Beit Ola, northwest of the West Bank city of Hebron, Palestine News & Info Agency (WAFA) reported on Tuesday.

The National Committee Against the Annexation Wall reported that a large force from the Israeli army, accompanied by bulldozers and an officer of the Israeli Civil Administration, invaded the section of Bedwan in the western part of Beit Ola village.

The committee added that the bulldozers cleared a twelve-acre olive orchard, demolished a house and a cowshed, and confiscated two caravans, the property of the Palestinian resident, Mohammad Rashid.

Settler Rams Vehicle Into Two Palestinian Sisters

Two Palestinian sisters were injured on Tuesday when an Israeli settler hit them with his vehicle at the Huwwara Road, south of the northern West Bank city of Nablus, before fleeing the scene, the Maan News Agency reported.

Local sources stated that the settler was driving his own vehicle, a pickup truck, and sped away without even slowing down, leaving the injured young women in the street.

Palestinian medical sources reported that the two sisters are Ahlam Hamad, 19, and Saja Hamad, 18. They were trying to cross the main street while heading for IbnSina Medical College, where they are students. They were transferred to Rafidya Hospital in Nablus, where X-ray and other tests revealed that they suffered concussions and external injuries.

Sakhnin; Thousands Mark 11th Anniversary Of Al Aqsa Intifada

Responding to a decision by the Arab Higher follow-up committee in the 1948 territories, thousands of Arabs, Palestinians, participated in a ceremony commemorating the 11th anniversary of the Al Aqsa Intifada.

The Intifada stated eleven years ago after the then-Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, visited on September 28th 2000, the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem with his armed bodyguards, desecrated the holy site and showing disrespects to the beliefs of Arabs and Muslims in the country.

The Sakhnin protest started on Saturday evening when thousands of Arab citizens gathered in Sakhnin to participate in the regional massive protest to commemorate the Intifada and the death of 13 Arab residents of Israel who were shot and killed by the Israeli police eleven years ago.

Several political, social and religious leaders and figures participated in the commemoration and the massive protest denouncing the illegal Israeli policies and racism against the Arabs and Palestinians.

Head of the National Democratic Assembly, Wasel Taha, head of the follow-up Committee, Mohammad Zeidan, legislator Hanin Zo’by, Secretary-General of the National Democratic Assembly, Awad Abdul-Fattah, and legislator Dr. Jamal Zahalka, participated in the protest.

The protestors marched in the street and old alleys of Sakhnin heading to the main road and then to the square that was dedicated to the slain Palestinians who were killed on Land Day and when the Al Aqsa Intifada started eleven years ago.

Several officials, including Sakhnin Mayor, Mazin Ghanayim, and his deputy-mayor, Farouq Zbeidat, stated that “unity is an essential issue”, and that the Arabs and Palestinians in the 1948 territories will never accept to be marginalized or discriminated against, and that they will continue to defend the future of their children in order to enable them to live a dignified and decent life.

The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights reported that the scale of victimization and material damage has increased during the last nine years due to the Israeli army’s escalation of human rights violations in the occupied territories.

During these years, in the Gaza Strip alone the IOF has killed 4,661 Palestinians, 1060 of whom were children and 221 women.

The army has also destroyed 18,862 Palestinian houses, 5,687 of which were completely destroyed, and leveled 13,174 Dunams of agricultural land (one Dunam equals 1,000 square meters). The IOF has destroyed 990 public facilities, including schools and places of worship, 2,006 commercial facilities, 518 industrial establishments, and 1,221 vehicles.
